Don’t Leave God Out

But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other. Render verdicts in your courts that are just and that lead to peace. Don’t scheme against each other . Stop your love of telling lies that you swear are the truth. I hate all these things, says the LORD.” Zachariah 8:16-17

How many times does your family hear “God says” or “Paul wrote in the Bible.” or “Jesus told his friends?” If they only hear them a few hours a week on Sundays, is that enough?  Probably not.  For one thing there are six days in between, plenty of time to forget. Another thing,  on Sunday they aren’t learning from their favorite teacher, you, but from the pastor or Sunday School teacher.

When I was in 4th grade, the best 4th grade teacher in the world. Mrs Bailey, wrote a psalm and a proverb on the board each week, and throughout the week we discussed them.  Yes, a public school, but I am old. Today, this would not be allowed in a public school. Someone has to step in with God’s Word every day.

Sure , you tell them lots of things from the Bible. Share and share alike, don’t gossip, don’t lie, be fair, don’t plot against someone. Is that enough? Why not give God and God ‘s Word the credit they deserve. He will bless you for it, and they will begin to develop a positive relationship with God and Jesus and the Word. It takes only a nano second or so longer to say “God hates lies” than “don’t lie.”

And, you can say positive things as well as the negatives. Instead of “it will be ok.” why not remember Corinthians 9:8  “And God is able to bless you  abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” And then say, “You know, Paul wrote in the Bible that God will bless you a lot, so that you will always have everything you need.” Don’t leave God out of your everyday talk with your family.  Make him an integral part of your life and communication. Your children go out into world with many traps, snares and evil people. This will prepare them with answers when they are taunted or tempted by others.

In this category, we will look at many Bible verses that will arm your family against Satan and increase their knowledge about the Bible, and help them establish a positive relationship with God. I hope you will enjoy each of them.
